Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, cut into strips Choose a good cut for flavor.
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced Cooking until golden brown enhances flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons flour Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Noodles or rice for serving Buttered noodles or fluffy rice work well.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic, cooking until the mushrooms turn golden brown.
  • Push the mushrooms to the side and add the beef strips to the skillet. Sear the beef until it is browned on all sides.
  • Sprinkle flour over the beef and mix well, cooking for another minute to combine.
  • Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce and mix well.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, allowing the sauce to thicken before reducing the heat.
  • Stir in the sour cream, mixing until everything is well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Serve the beef stroganoff warm over buttered noodles or rice. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
