  • 8 oz 225g semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 ¼ cups 250g granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup 150g brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup 95g all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup 25g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 175g chocolate chips (optional, for extra gooeyness)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional, for crunch

Optional Add-ins:

  • Espresso powder for a richer chocolate flavor
  • Sea salt flakes sprinkled on top for a sweet-salty combo

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Baking Pan

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray, and line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides. This will make removing the brownies from the pan easier after baking.

Step 2: Melt the Butter and Chocolate

  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and semi-sweet chocolate, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Once fully melted and smooth, remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined and slightly frothy. Slowly pour in the melted chocolate mixture, whisking continuously until fully blended.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. This helps prevent clumps and ensures an even distribution of dry ingredients.

  • Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a spatula. Avoid overmixing, as it can lead to tough brownies.Stir just until the flour is incorporated. If you're adding chocolate chips or nuts, gently fold them into the batter now.

Step 6: Bake the Brownies

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.For fudgier brownies, remove them from the oven on the earlier side.

-You can also melt the butter and chocolate in the microwave, heating in 20-second increments and stirring in between until smooth.
-Don’t overbake! Brownies will continue to cook as they cool, so it's better to pull them out slightly underdone for a gooey center.
