  • ½ cup warm milk 110°F/45°C
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples peeled and diced
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions
 

Step 1:

  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Step 2:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and egg. Mix everything together and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 3:

  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 4:

  • While the dough rises, prepare the apple filling. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the apples are tender and the sugar has dissolved, forming a syrupy consistency.

Step 5:

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 12x8 inches. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the dough, then roll it up tightly from the long edge.

Step 6:
