  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated Melts well, adds flavor punch.
  • 2 cups Cream or Half-and-Half Makes the sauce luxurious.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Enhances flavor profile.
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Enhances flavor profile.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel the Russet potatoes and slice them evenly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream or half-and-half with garlic powder and black pepper.

Layering

  • In a greased baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, sprinkle some cheddar cheese, and pour the cream mixture over them.
  • Repeat the layering process until all the ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

Notes

You can prep the dish a day ahead and refrigerate before baking. For variations, swap cheeses or add leftover ham for a twist.
