  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (Softened) The rich, tangy center.
  • 0.25 cups Granulated Sugar A light sweetener.
  • 1 Egg Egg The structural binder.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract For a classic cheesecake aroma.

Instructions

Phase 1: Preparation and the 'Hidden' Core

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your pans or, better yet, line them with parchment paper for a flawless release.
  • In a small bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla together until smooth.
  • Make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature to avoid lumps.

Phase 2: Building the Chocolate Batter

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add in the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla, mixing until just combined.
  • Slowly pour in the hot water or coffee, mixing until the batter is thin.

Phase 3: The Professional Layering Technique

  • Pour half of the chocolate batter into the prepared pans.
  • Spoon the cream cheese filling into the center of the batter, leaving about an inch of chocolate batter visible around the edges.
  • Pour the remaining chocolate batter over the top, sealing the filling inside.

Phase 4: Bake and Cool

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the chocolate part comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool completely in the pans to let the center set.

Notes

Can be frosted with Chocolate Ganache or Vanilla Buttercream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for the best taste.
