  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • a pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar Can reduce sugar by 1/4 cup.
  • 1 large egg, beaten Can substitute with a flax egg for egg-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Measure by spooning into the cup and leveling off.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Toss in a little flour before folding in for even distribution.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Stir in the melted butter.
  • Mix in the baking soda and salt.
  • Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  • Stir in the all-purpose flour until just incorporated.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool before slicing.

Notes
