Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Gradually stir in the hot coffee to achieve a thin batter.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Allow the cake layers to cool completely before decorating.

Frosting and Assembling

  • Beat the butter until creamy and fluffy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then mix in heavy cream, vanilla, and salt until smooth and thick.
  • Frost the sides and top of the cake with a smooth layer of chocolate frosting.
  • Heat heavy cream until it steams, then pour over chocolate chips and stir until a silky ganache is formed.
  • Pour the ganache over the top of the cake, nudging it gently over the edges for drips.
  • Pipe thick frosting swirls on top, and decorate with strawberries, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, chocolate curls, and sprinkles.
  • For the cleanest presentation, chill the cake for 20 minutes before slicing.
