Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk – at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup hot water or hot coffee

For the Fudge Layer

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1.5 cups bitter chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

For the Mousse Layer

  • 1.5 cups cold heavy cream
  • 225 g dark chocolate (melted, slightly cooled)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla for mousse
  • 1 cup whipped cream or chocolate ganache

For Decoration

  • Chocolate curls or cocoa sprinkles For topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or square pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until the mixture is smooth.
  • Gradually stir in hot water or coffee.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes. Allow the cake to cool completely.

Fudge Layer

  • In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter. Stir until everything is smooth, then add in the vanilla.
  • Pour this fudge layer over the cooled cake and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to set.

Mousse Layer

  • Melt the dark chocolate and let it cool slightly.
  • In another bowl, whip the cold heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Fold the cooled melted chocolate into the whipped cream mixture.
  • Spread the mousse over the fudge layer and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2–3 hours to firm up.

Serving

  • Just before serving, pipe some whipped cream or drizzle chocolate ganache on top and add chocolate curls.
  • Slice it into pieces and enjoy.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days. Can freeze individual slices wrapped tightly for up to a month.
