  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder sifted to remove lumps
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional, for extra texture

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and sugar.
  • Add the heavy cream and milk, and stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips.

Churning and Freezing

  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Transfer the ice cream to a container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container and press plastic wrap on the surface to limit ice crystals. Best enjoyed within 2 weeks.
