Ingredients
  

For the Brownies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Chocolate Mousse

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon gelatin (optional) For a firmer mousse

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  • Beat in flour, cocoa, and salt until well blended.
  • Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan.

Making the Mousse

  • Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until fully incorporated.

Assembly

  • Pour the mousse over the cooled brownies and spread evenly.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, allowing the mousse to set.
