These classic burgers feature juicy beef patties cooked to perfection, topped with melted cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Served on a toasted bun with your choice of condiments, they’re the ultimate comfort food for any occasion.
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up as they cook. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Cook the Patties:
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Brush with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Toast the Buns:
While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a separate pan for 1–2 minutes until golden.
Assemble the Burgers:
Place each cooked patty on the bottom half of a bun. Top with your desired toppings—lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles—and condiments such as ketchup, mustard, or mayo.
Serve:
Place the top bun on and serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as fries or a salad.
