Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature for best results.
  • 1 cup milk Use room temperature for best results.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

For Serving

  • 1 scoop ice cream Any flavor, vanilla is classic.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until everything is well combined.
  • Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then remove them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  • Once cooled, frost as desired and serve slices with ice cream on the side.

Notes

Store leftover cake wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the fridge for about a week. For longer storage, freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
