  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, sliced Make sure bananas are ripe for best flavor.
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans Optional
  • ½ cup chocolate chips Optional

Baking Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish and tilt to spread it evenly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Slowly pour in the milk and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
  • Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish without stirring.
  • Evenly distribute the sliced bananas over the top of the batter.
  • Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle over the bananas and batter. Add optional nuts or chocolate chips on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 35–45 minutes until golden brown and bubbling, and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
  • Let the cobbler rest for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days or refrigerated for up to a week. Freezing portion is also an option for up to three months.
