Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Rice and Sauce

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by seasoning the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and sear until golden brown on both sides. Remove the chicken and set it aside.

Cooking

  • In the same skillet, add the chicken broth and bring it to a boil. Stir in the long-grain white rice and cook until the rice is tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually add the whole milk and chicken broth, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens.
  • Stir in garlic powder, thyme, shredded cheddar, and grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Return the seared chicken to the skillet and spoon the creamy sauce over it. Simmer for a few more minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.

Serving

  • Serve the chicken and creamy sauce over the fluffy rice, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

Make sure to season your chicken generously for the best flavor. Cook rice separately if you prefer to ensure it doesn’t stick. Feel free to add your favorite veggies to the creamy sauce for extra nutrition and flavor.
