Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper

For the Sauce

  • 1 large onion, sliced for layering in the crockpot
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • Parsley for garnish Parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs.
  • Layer the sliced onions at the bottom of your crockpot.
  • Place the prepared meatballs on top of the onions.
  • Blend the beef broth with the French onion soup mix in another bowl, then pour this mixture over the meatballs.

Cooking

  • Cover your crockpot and cook the meatballs on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • When done, serve the meatballs hot, garnished with parsley if desired.

Notes

For best results, do not over-mix the meatball mixture. Optionally, you can brown the meatballs in a skillet before placing them in the crockpot. You can adjust the seasoning as per your taste, or add garlic powder or Italian herbs for more flavor.
