Ingredients
  

Pastry and Filling

  • 1 sheet sheet of puff pastry Ensure it's fully thawed before use
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Can experiment with other sugars
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon Substitute with nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice if desired
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 each egg (for egg wash) Beaten for brushing on top

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into strips.
  • In a bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
  • Brush each pastry strip with melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
  • Twist each strip several times and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving.

Serving

  • Serve these cinnamon twists warm, straight from the oven. They pair perfectly with coffee or tea.
  • For a treat, drizzle with icing or serve with whipped cream for dipping.

Storing

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate to keep fresh. Reheat in the oven to regain crispiness.

Notes

Ensure puff pastry is fully thawed for best results. Add nuts or raisins for extra texture, or sprinkle mini chocolate chips for a chocolate version.
