Egg & Halloumi Burger Recipe

Main Ingredients:
- 2 burger buns brioche, whole wheat, or regular
- 2 eggs
- 4 slices of halloumi cheese about ½ inch thick
- 2 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato sliced
- ½ red onion thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter for frying
Sauces & Seasoning:
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Greek yogurt for a healthier option
- 1 teaspoon mustard or hot sauce optional
- Salt & black pepper to taste
Optional Toppings:
- ½ avocado sliced
- Caramelized onions
- Jalapeños or chili flakes for spice
Step 1: Prepare the Halloumi
Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
Add a little olive oil and place the halloumi slices in the pan.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Egg
In the same pan, crack the eggs and cook over medium heat.
Fry for 3-4 minutes until the whites are set but the yolk is still runny (or cook longer for a firm yolk).
Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
Step 4: Assemble the Burger
Spread mayonnaise (or your preferred sauce) on the bottom half of each bun.
Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, and grilled halloumi.
Gently place the cooked egg on top.
Add any additional toppings like avocado or caramelized onions.
Cover with the top bun and press gently.
