Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp salted butter (or use unsalted butter with a pinch of salt)
  • 2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla (optional)
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Melt the butter in a microwave-safe mug for about 20 seconds or until fully melted.
  • Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips to the melted butter and stir until completely melted. Microwave for a few more seconds if needed for a smooth consistency.
  • Add the egg yolk, brown sugar, and vanilla (if using) to the chocolate mix. Stir until well combined.
  • Incorporate the flour into the mixture until fully blended. Gently fold in more chocolate chips if desired.
  • Cook the brownie in the microwave on high for 45 seconds. Check for doneness, and cook an additional 15 seconds if necessary.

Serving

  • Let the brownie cool for a minute after cooking. Enjoy it directly from the mug or transfer to a plate. Optionally, serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Storage

  • If you have leftovers, cool completely and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. Microwave for a few seconds to warm up again.

Notes

Ensure your mug is large enough for the brownie to rise without spilling. Experiment with flavors by adding nuts, caramel, or peanut butter. Adjust cooking time based on microwave power for the best texture.
