Brownie Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar Can substitute brown sugar for a chewier texture.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend if needed.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa powder for better flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  • Beat in the cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the brownie begins to pull away from the edges of the pan.
  • Let cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, and sprinkle with powdered sugar or chocolate sauce for decoration. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for 2 to 3 months. Avoid overmixing the batter and check for doneness using a toothpick.
