- 1 lb 450g ground beef
- 4 –5 medium russet potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika optional for flavor
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- Fresh parsley for garnish optional
Step 3: Cook Ground Beef
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add diced onions and garlic; sauté until soft and fragrant.
Add ground beef, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until browned.
Drain excess grease and set aside.
Step 5: Layer the Casserole
In the prepared baking dish:
Add a layer of sliced potatoes.
Top with half the cooked beef mixture.
Drizzle half the soup mixture.
Sprinkle a handful of cheese.
Repeat the layers again, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
Step 6: Bake
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove foil and bake an additional 20–25 minutes, until the top is golden and potatoes are tender.
