Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ tsp)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed Warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring Adjust according to color preference.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Filling

  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cups mini chocolate chips (optional) Add for extra flavor.

For the Frosting

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tbsp milk To adjust consistency of frosting.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  • Slowly combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and knead until you have a smooth dough.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling

  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chocolate chips if you’re using them.

Roll and Assemble

  • Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  • Spread the filling evenly over the dough, then roll it up tightly from one end to the other.
  • Cut the log into equal-sized pieces.

Bake the Rolls

  • Place the rolls into a greased baking dish, cover them, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Make the Frosting

  • In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until you reach your desired consistency.

Frost and Serve

  • Once the rolls are done baking and slightly cooled, top them with the cream cheese frosting.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor.

Notes

These rolls are best served warm and can be enjoyed with or without frosting. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
