Ingredients
  

Churro Dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating

  • 1 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon for coating

Dipping

  • Nutella for dipping

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  • Stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
  • Stir in eggs one at a time until the mixture is smooth.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spoon the dough into a pastry bag and pipe 2-inch lengths into the hot oil.
  • Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  • In a bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll churro bites in the mixture while they are still warm.

Notes

Serve the churro bites warm in a bowl with a side of Nutella for dipping. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave as needed. Tips: Don't skip the cooling time, fry in batches, and use a candy thermometer for perfect frying temperature.
