Ingredients

For the cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix plus ingredients listed on the box (typically oil, water, and eggs)

For the ice cream layer

  • 1 liter vanilla ice cream softened

For the topping

  • 1 jar hot fudge chocolate sauce about 350 g / 12 oz
  • whipped cream optional
  • chocolate shavings or sprinkles optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the instructions on the box.
  • Pour the batter into a 23×33 cm (9×13 inch) baking pan and bake for about 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool completely.

Adding Ice Cream

  • Spread the softened vanilla ice cream evenly over the cooled cake, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  • Place the pan in the freezer for 2–3 hours, allowing the ice cream to harden completely.

Topping with Fudge

  • Slightly warm the hot fudge chocolate sauce to make it easier to spread.
  • Carefully drizzle it over the frozen ice cream layer.
  • Return the cake to the freezer for another 1–2 hours.

Serving

  • Slice and serve your cake.
  • Top it with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or sprinkles for extra flair.
  • Enjoy immediately or store in the freezer for later.

Notes

Wrap any leftovers in plastic wrap or foil and keep them in the freezer for up to a month. Make sure your ice cream is softened but not too melted for easier spreading. Experiment with different ice cream flavors and toppings.
