Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate and crimp the edges. Set aside.

Making the batter

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light, fluffy, and smooth.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Sift cocoa powder and flour into the bowl. Gently fold until smooth and just combined, avoiding overmixing.

Baking

  • Pour the chocolate batter into the pie crust and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes until the top forms a delicate crust while the center remains slightly gooey.
  • Let the pie cool for 10 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For the best results, avoid overbaking, as the gooey center is crucial. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the chocolate flavor.
