Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water Hot from the tap for best results.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
  • Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the batter.
  • Pour hot water over the top of the batter (do not stir it).

Baking

  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the cake is set but still soft.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the gooey fudge sauce that forms underneath.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a delightful treat. Leftover pudding can be covered and stored in the fridge for about 3 days.
