Brownie Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  • In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until combined.
  • Add the eggs, lemon zest, fresh lemon juice, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before preparing the glaze.

Glazing

  • Whisk together powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled brownies, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

Serve lemon brownies slightly warm or at room temperature. Great with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Work fast when glazing to prevent melting into the brownies.
