Ingredients

For the Cookies

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted Essential for brownie-like texture
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality for richer flavor
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Can add extra for presentation

Optional

  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Making the Batter

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined and slightly thick.
  • Sift in the cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir until smooth and free of lumps.
  • Gently fold in the flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.

Shaping the Cookies

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Optionally, press a few extra chocolate chips on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly underbaked.
  • Let cookies rest on the baking tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.

Notes

Do not overbake — the centers should stay fudgy. Chill dough for 15 minutes if your kitchen is warm.
