Churro Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water Provides moisture for the dough
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Adds richness and enhances flavor
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Enhances flavor
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar Sweetens the churro dough
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Main structural component
  • 2 large Eggs Adds moisture and richness
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil Essential for frying
  • 1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon Adds signature flavor for coating
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar Creates sweet, crunchy exterior

Serving Ingredients

  • 1 cup Nutella Rich chocolate hazelnut dip

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Heat over medium heat until the mixture boils, and the butter melts completely.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly add the flour. Stir vigorously until a dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the saucepan. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Once cooled, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Frying

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  • Use a piping bag fitted with a star tip to pipe small bite-sized pieces of dough into the hot oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  • Remove the churro bites from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.

Coating

  • In a bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll the warm churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.

Notes

Store leftover churro bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat briefly in the oven for crispiness.
