Instructions

Phase 1: Engineering the Foundation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • Combine the Oreo crumbs and melted butter until it resembles wet, dark sand.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan using a flat measuring cup.

Phase 2: Crafting the Perfect Batter

  • Beat the softened cream cheese until silky and smooth.
  • Add the sugar and beat until fully incorporated.
  • Mix in the sour cream and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating on low speed after each addition.
  • Gently fold in the chopped pecans and coarsely crushed Oreos.

Phase 3: The Low and Slow Bake

  • Spread the filling evenly over the crust.
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes until the edges are set and the center jiggles slightly.
  • Turn off the oven and crack the door open slightly. Let the cheesecake sit for 1 hour.

Phase 4: Chilling and Finishing

  • Just before serving, sprinkle pecans and crushed Oreos on top. Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.

Notes

To prevent cracks, avoid over-beating the eggs and allow gradual cooling. For clean slices, use a hot knife.
