Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 2 1/2 cups 2 1/2 cups (310 g) flour
  • 1 1/2 cups 1 1/2 cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large 2 large eggs At room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon red food coloring

For the frosting

  • 225 grams 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup (115 g) butter, softened
  • 3 cups 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For decoration

  • 12-15 pieces 12-15 Oreo cookies, broken into large pieces Use more for decoration if desired.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 20 cm round cake pans.
  • In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix the sugar, vegetable oil, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, apple cider vinegar, and red food coloring until well combined using a mixer.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until you have a smooth batter.

Baking

  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Use a toothpick to check for doneness. Once baked, let the cakes cool completely.

Frosting and Assembly

  • In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Then, mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.
  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, and sprinkle with Oreo pieces.
  • Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
  • Decorate the cake with additional Oreo pieces. Refrigerate it for 1 hour before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure ingredients are at room temperature. Don’t overmix the batter; mix just until combined. Consider using double stuffed Oreos for a richer flavor.
