Equipment

  • Baking sheet or casserole dish
  • Serrated knife
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Pastry brush or spoon
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

For the Sliders:

  • 1 pack 12-count Hawaiian sweet rolls or slider buns
  • 1/2 lb sliced deli ham
  • 1/2 lb cooked pork pulled or sliced
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese cut in half
  • 1/3 cup dill pickle chips or more, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard

For the Pickle-Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle juice
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped dill pickles
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard optional
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley optional for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease your baking dish or line it with foil.

Assemble the Sliders

  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without separating the individual rolls.
  • Place the bottom halves in the baking dish.
  • Layer evenly with ham, pork, Swiss cheese, and pickles.
  • Spread yellow mustard on the cut side of the top halves of the rolls, then place them on top.

Make the Pickle-Garlic Butter

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Stir in garlic, pickle juice, chopped pickles, and Dijon mustard (if using). Let it cook for about 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

Brush and Bake

  • Brush the tops of the sliders generously with the pickle-garlic butter. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 5–8 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the cheese is melty.

Garnish and Serve

  • Remove from oven, brush with any leftover butter, sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm. Use a spatula or serrated knife to pull apart the sliders easily.

Notes

Pro Tips:

✔ Use Hawaiian rolls for a soft and slightly sweet balance to the tangy pickles.
✔ Cover with foil during baking to keep the sliders soft, then uncover for a crispy top.
✔ Serve with plantain chips, fries, or coleslaw for a complete meal.
