Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water Make sure the water is warm, not overly hot.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast Allows dough to rise.
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup baking soda Used for dipping.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg Beaten, for egg wash.
  • Coarse sea salt For sprinkling.

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for about 5 minutes until it gets frothy.
  • Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a dough comes together.
  • Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  • Cut the dough into small pieces and roll each into a bite-sized ball.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • In another bowl, combine baking soda with a cup of hot water. Dip each dough ball into this solution.
  • Place the dipped dough balls into the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t touch each other.
  • Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle coarse sea salt on top.
  • Air fry for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
  • Serve warm and enjoy your delicious pretzel bites!

Notes

Best enjoyed warm; pairs well with mustard, cheese sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for future snacks.
