Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground chicken
  • 1 packet 1 oz ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of chicken or mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 32 oz bag frozen tater tots
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions or parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Cook the Meat:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or chicken until browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess grease if needed.

Mix the Filling:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat, ranch seasoning, cream of soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until well mixed.

Assemble the Casserole:

  • Spread the meat mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.

Bake:

  • Bake for 30 minutes, uncovered. Remove from oven, sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top, and return to oven for another 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted and tots are golden brown.

Garnish & Serve:

  • Let rest for a few minutes, then garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired. Serve warm.
