  • 1 pound mushrooms Any type of mushrooms can be used.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Use unsalted butter for better control over seasoning.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves Fresh thyme adds great flavor; can substitute with dried thyme.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese (optional) Can substitute with crumbled feta or goat cheese.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Clean the mushrooms thoroughly and lay them out on a baking sheet.

Cooking

  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns a golden brown.
  • Add the minced garlic and fresh thyme to the skillet, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Drizzle the browned butter mixture over the mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Roast the mushrooms in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until they become tender and golden brown.
  • Serve the mushrooms warm, optionally adding grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. For variations, consider adding asparagus or bell peppers, or a splash of balsamic vinegar before serving.
