Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 1 package shortbread cookies (or graham cracker crumbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the filling

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz
  • 1 cup shredded coconut, toasted
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a pie dish.
  • Crush the shortbread cookies and mix them with the melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the pie dish.
  • Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then allow it to cool.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir in the toasted coconut and pecans if using.
  • Pour the mixture into the cooled crust and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until it’s set and lightly golden.
  • Allow the pie to cool completely before drizzling with chocolate and caramel sauce.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for about an hour to set before serving.

Notes

Serve Samoa Pie chilled for the best flavor. Drizzle extra chocolate and caramel sauce on top for a delightful presentation. Pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, tightly wrapped to keep fresh. Can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
