  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for best results.
  • Salt To taste.
  • Pepper To taste.
  • Garlic powder To season.
  • 4 large flour tortillas Flour tortillas work best for folding.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese American cheese melts well for a creamy texture.

  • diced onions For serving.
  • burger sauce For serving.

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  • Press a small handful of ground beef directly onto one half of each tortilla. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Cook the beef side down for 2–3 minutes until browned and crispy.
  • Flip the tortilla so the beef is up, sprinkle cheese over the cooked meat, fold the tortilla in half, and grill both sides until the tortilla is crispy and the cheese melts, about 1–2 minutes per side.
  • Slice and serve with pickles, diced onions, or burger sauce.

Notes

To store leftovers, cool to room temperature and keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven. Avoid microwaving to keep tortilla crisp.
