Ingredients
  

Cookie Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature for best mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature is preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Filling

  • Your choice of jam or chocolate for filling Red or green jam for festive colors.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.
  • Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Use your thumb or a spoon to create an indentation in the center of each ball.
  • Fill each indentation with your choice of jam or chocolate.

Baking

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

If the dough becomes sticky, chill for 15 minutes to make rolling easier. You can also dust with powdered sugar for a snowy look.
