Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans.

  • Add the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
  • Slowly stir in the hot coffee until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool completely.

Frosting

  • Beat the butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream and vanilla until fluffy and smooth.
  • Level the cake layers if needed, then frost between the layers and around the outside of the cake.
  • Chill the cake for 20 minutes before adding the ganache drip.

Ganache Drip

  • Heat the heavy cream until steaming, then pour over the chocolate chips.
  • Let sit for 2 minutes and stir until glossy.
  • Spoon the ganache around the edges to create drips, then cover the top with more ganache.

Decoration and Serving

  • Decorate with chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate bars, wafer rolls, truffles, and drizzle with white chocolate.
  • Slice thick and serve slightly chilled.

Notes

Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter. Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor. Chill the cake before applying ganache to prevent it from melting into the frosting.
