For the Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
- 2 large eggs room temperature
For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 –2 tbsp milk or cream
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Step 1: Make the Dough
Warm the milk and water until just lukewarm (not hot). Add sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead for 8–10 minutes (or use a stand mixer) until the dough is soft and smooth.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Set aside.
Step 3: Roll and Assemble
Roll dough into a large rectangle (about 12x20 inches).
Spread the cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough.
Cut the dough vertically into 5 strips, then stack them and cut into 5 squares.
Layer the squares upright into a greased loaf pan (like stacked books).
Cover and let rise for 20–30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).
