  • Rolling Pin
  • Loaf pan (9x5-inch)
  • Pastry brush
  • Plastic wrap or kitchen towel
  • Oven

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs room temperature

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 –2 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough

  • Warm the milk and water until just lukewarm (not hot). Add sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes (or use a stand mixer) until the dough is soft and smooth.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

  • In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Set aside.

Step 3: Roll and Assemble

  • Roll dough into a large rectangle (about 12x20 inches).
  • Spread the cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough.
  • Cut the dough vertically into 5 strips, then stack them and cut into 5 squares.
  • Layer the squares upright into a greased loaf pan (like stacked books).
  • Cover and let rise for 20–30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 4: Bake

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden brown on top and cooked through. If browning too fast, cover with foil during the last 10 minutes.

Step 5: Glaze and Serve

  • Cool for 10 minutes. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over the warm loaf. Serve warm and enjoy pulling it apart piece by piece!
